We all know of the traditional Thanksgiving with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and other standards, but in this blog post, we will focus on a few Thanksgiving delicacies that Italian-American families have passed down for generations. We hope you will see something you enjoy and make it a Thanksgiving Day tradition with your family.


Butternut Squash Soup

This Tuscan-inspired dish, known in Italian as Zuppa di Zucca is perfect for any wintertime holiday and includes sausage, mushrooms and can include your favorite bread and spices sprinkled on top to give it flavor. This soup is extremely creamy and hearty and something everyone will enjoy on Turkey day. We also suggest rotini and rice dishes that include butternut squash if you are looking for something different than soup.


Italian-Style Stuffing

This type of stuffing is a fun way to mix things up if you’re sick of the same old Thanksgiving Day stuffing. Many Italian stuffing recipes call for Ciabatta bread (our whatever your favorite bread may be), with its tough crust and light middle. Next you will add Italian sausage, garlic, onion, fennel and rosemary to give it a distinctive taste that will remind you of southern Italy.


Stuffed Mushrooms

Stuffed mushrooms are an extremely popular choice for Thanksgiving, as they are easy to make and can be stuffed with nearly any toppings you wish. Many Italian families prefer to fill them with cheese, wine, sausage and their favorite spices. Simply clean the outside of the mushroom, pop out the stem and add whatever you think your family will enjoy.
