Secrets to a Stellar Sunday Football Party

There isn’t a lot of time left between now and watching the Philadelphia Eagles battle it out with the New England Patriots for the National Football Championship.  We’re excited to share some tips on how to make your Sunday snack spread an easy and delicious one.

Let’s get started!
1. Plan ahead
Forget about whether you have three weeks or 3 days to plan. Even if you have 30 minutes, it’s important to step back and make a realistic list of everything you need.

Start by verifying your guest list. You want to make sure you have enough food for everyone. Once you have the number of people (and a list of dietary needs or preferences), you can start planning the menu and deciding how you want to set things up. Decide where the food, drink, and dessert stations will be as well as how you will keep hot food hot and cold food cold.

If you don’t have a lot of time, buy as many pre-made items as possible. If you do have a lot of time, we still suggest buying some items pre-made just to make things a little bit easier on game day.

2. Meat Matters

Let’s face it, meat is usually the star of any meal–and not all meat is the same. Starting out with a quality product combined with some top notch grilling skills will get you the best results. We use the freshest meats in our handmade burger patties and love to use Hormel’s Always Tender Lean & Meaty Country-Style Short Ribs.

The same goes even for your guests who don’t eat meat. Many people don’t know how to prepare for vegetarian guests which means they end up with a plate fulls of sides.  Finding a quality plant-based burger patty and cooking it properly makes your guests feel included.

If you can’t find any, try to give your appetizers and sides a little more attention so your non-meat-eating friends can have something tastier and more substantial to snack on.
3. Make it easy for yourself
We all like to show off in the kitchen, but sometimes that can mean taking on too much responsibility and complicating the day. You should be having some fun, too!

There are a few ways to accomplish this. First, you should go ahead and prepare anything that can stand to be made 1-3 days in advance. Secondly, you should enlist any help that you can get. If your friends offer to make something, take them up on it. If you have kids, get them in the kitchen as your sous chef.

You should also keep in mind that there is no shame in serving delicious food and refreshing drinks on paper plates and in plastic cups. They’re both recyclable and make for super easy clean up.

The list of tips we’d like to share could go on for days, but we hope these suggestions will help your planning. At the end of the day, the most important tip we could ever give you is just to have fun. Sometimes we pay too much attention to making things perfect and forget that this is really about spending time with family and friends.
